Soft Shells for Hard Times

“Soft Shells for Hard Times” explores ways in which we cushion ourselves from the harsh realities of modern life.

Armour suggests protection; from ourselves as well as from each other. We usually think of suits of armour providing a hard shell or carapace as a means to ward off enemy blows. In contrast, my “soft shells” provide comfort as well as protection, which seems somehow more fitting.
